MADCHEN AMICK - Black Lodge Show Case

Das Wiener Duo Madchen Amick hat zwar erst eine Single veröffentlicht, gehört
aber trotzdem zu einer der interessantesten heimischen Bands der Stunde. Ihre
erste Single „Big Majestic Douglas Firs“ wird bereits auf FM4 und Radio
Superfly gespielt, und die zwei Musiker haben noch viel vor. Zuerst wird mal
ein Label gesucht und dann sollen Gigs im Ausland folgen. Ihre Mischung aus
Elektro, Country und 50.er Jahre Soundtracksurfersound bezeichnet die Band
selbst als „No Wave Country“. So klingt es, wenn Johnny Cash mit T.
Raumschmiere auf einer Party abfeiert.

Die Einflüsse, der zwei Vollblutmusiker decken fast das gesamte musikalische
Repertoire des 20. Jahrhunderts ab. Für ihr Projekt wollten sie eine Synthese
aus Jimmys Vorliebe für 50´s Rock´n´Roll und Roberts Vorliebe für Krautrock
und Postpunk herstellen. Selbstverständlich gibt es einzelne Figuren, die für
Madchen Amick hervorstechen und sie nachhaltig beeinflusst haben wie etwa Mike
Patton, Alan Vega, Luc Ferrari, Johnny Cash und Otto von Schirach mit seinen
Miami Bass Warriors.
